Course Description

NE 100: Intro to Computers

70 Contact Hours

This course is designed for a user who has never used a personal computer and needs to use a personal computer on the job.

   

HIMT I 101: Medical Terminology I

90 Contact Hours

This course will enable students to learn to become familiar with the essentials of medical terminology.  Students will learn to break down medical terms and identify individual word parts.  Students will use aids such as computes software  to help increase retention of material.

   

HIMT II 201: Medical Terminology II

90 Contact Hours

Students will learn to recognize, define, spell, and pronounce terms associated with basic examination procedures, blood and urinalysis laboratory tests, radiography and other imaging techniques, pharmacology terms and learn to differentiate between projection and position and describe basic radiographic projection.

 

 

HIMAP 101: Anatomy and Physiology

40 Contact Hours

This course will provide students with an understanding of the different diseases and treatments of each body system.  An emphasis will be placed on the documentation and requirements need to properly code physician services and surgeries.

   

HIMI 101: Medical Insurance

60 Contact Hours

This course introduces information about major insurance programs and federal health care legislation.  Provide a basic knowledge of national diagnosis and procedure coding systems, and simplify the process of completing claims.

   

HIMC I 101: Coding I

90 Contact Hours

This course will introduce students to the CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 codebooks.  Students will learn the conventions used to navigate each book and gain an understanding of proper code selection.

   

HIMC II 201: Coding II

90 Contact Hours   

This course will teach students how the CPT and HCPCS books are used together and why proper coding plays an important role in the reimbursement process.  It will also focus on physician and hospital guidelines for coding diseases from the ICD-9.

   

HIMCB 101: Computerized Billing

80 Contact Hours

Student will learn how to process insurance claims, collect patient responsibilities and to manage account receivables.  Students will learn basic office accounting principles and the technologies used to maintain proper reimbursement and cash flow.

   

HIMEL 101: Medical  Ethics and Law

70 Contact Hours

This course reflects the facts that can keep organization clear of legal actions and lead to better patient outcomes.
